meh

Dunno how i feel about the result, or the stupid text underlining everything, but here is what happened. Spectacle:

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

notes fromclass on wednesday:

-spectacle
-grasp the subject, hold attention
-cant look away (thoguhts: roadkill, death, zombies)
-jaws and wolverine, plot line can be insignificant is the movie keeps the audience involved through action
-a naked woman is enough to hold a man's attention, the old master painters were well aware of this. (thought: painting from art history where goddess comes down to man in form of moonbeam)
- Corbet, "funeral" (even the dog was there) mirror set up opposite it to incorporate the viewer into the image
-eye candy, pure spectacle, no deeper meaning
-freuid (spelling) said we are taught to not like our own poop o.O but it's a developed thought, infants have no problems with poo
-thought: pile of barbies form thrift store at home - no clothes
-Anime, simply meant to be watched and enjoyed, not so much meant to be read into
-Damian Hurst - preserved shark in NY, skull encrusted in diamonds
-idea, tianic victims floating in water, dark shapes below them you only see if you look past the bodies

project:
-respond to the idea of spectacle
-make you own? comment on it? contradict it?
-can you use a specatcle as cover for something deeper?
