I think I'm ok with the negative space not having any details in it, and the contrast between the background and the bird values, but im open to suggestions :D

Robin, I really like this, you did a great job working out the difficult task of creating the tessellation. I would be interested in seeing the palette played with a little. Have you tried different variations?
