myth? truth? Fox news?

Still a controversy, the story from awhile ago about a strange creature that washed up on the beach is either a new species, or a manipulated photo. Either way, this photo has manipulated people's belief of the real and concrete. How does one determine if something so unreal is believable enough to become an urban legend? who decided that photo of Nesse was viable? Is there even a line drawn between real and unreal, or do things float around in a big pool, the shallow end fact, but still commingling with the stuff in the deep end?

  1. It's pretty funny you found this image- I live out on the east end of long island (close to where this creature was "found"). It was quite the talk of the town, and while everyone deep down realized it was a photo shopped picture, it always came up in conversation- and we would wonder about the possibility of the Montauk Monster actually existing. It also didn't help that I had just read the book plum island which is about a secret chemical plant off the cost of Montauk that experiments on animals...

It's funny though, how one person's idea of a joke and some sick photo shop skills can effect so many people.

Thanks for putting this up! It reminds me of last summer and home! Haha
