spending hours in illustrator

simply because i can. I got a scanner for my birthday so I am trying to convert some of my better sketches into Digital files so they can be tweaked, edited, and submitted to my favorite tee shirt site :P
Here is one of the designs I have spent a few good hours on, but know is not finished. The whole idea is that the face is all one line. The color came later.
Also, once again, it's WTF blue, but it looks ok to me, so no worries, but i will keep working in red :)

tried for the red again, with a second layer of design. Failed again at uploading, but these colors still work, so i won't fight it for now.

whaat?

ok, so the last one was supposed to be green on brown, but got lost intranslatino and i liked it better. hopefully, the rest of these will work :)
ummmmmm, ok, no, fail..... It is supposed to be red. I dont know where the colors went wrong, but this doesnt look bad either i suppose :/

green

hmmmmm, where did the summer go?

Between work and traveling, I really didnt get any art out this summer, and it has been bothering me, a LOT. I want to continue working with textiles this coming semester, and even found a few companies that will print yardage for you, and for extra money, you can have it made into something. but what fun is that?

So I've decided to start teaching myself how to make designs that people would want on fabric. I need to learn how to make designs repeat without making them look pattern-like. I'm starting with a few doodles/ideas in a few different colors, but will need to work more on the technical aspects of the designs.

The colors got a little distorted between changing file types to post it on the web, but here is the initial result of the urge to get something made before school starts:

Now back to work!
See you all in a few weeks!

meh

Dunno how i feel about the result, or the stupid text underlining everything, but here is what happened. Spectacle:

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

notes fromclass on wednesday:

-spectacle
-grasp the subject, hold attention
-cant look away (thoguhts: roadkill, death, zombies)
-jaws and wolverine, plot line can be insignificant is the movie keeps the audience involved through action
-a naked woman is enough to hold a man's attention, the old master painters were well aware of this. (thought: painting from art history where goddess comes down to man in form of moonbeam)
- Corbet, "funeral" (even the dog was there) mirror set up opposite it to incorporate the viewer into the image
-eye candy, pure spectacle, no deeper meaning
-freuid (spelling) said we are taught to not like our own poop o.O but it's a developed thought, infants have no problems with poo
-thought: pile of barbies form thrift store at home - no clothes
-Anime, simply meant to be watched and enjoyed, not so much meant to be read into
-Damian Hurst - preserved shark in NY, skull encrusted in diamonds
-idea, tianic victims floating in water, dark shapes below them you only see if you look past the bodies

project:
-respond to the idea of spectacle
-make you own? comment on it? contradict it?
-can you use a specatcle as cover for something deeper?
